Athar

Introducing Athar

Athar, a groundbreaking initiative, aims to empower Academic Bedouin women from the Negev and integrate them into the thriving high-tech industry. Through a meticulously designed 400-hour bootcamp, Athar equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge to excel in roles such as automation and QA engineers.

The program, in cooperation with Tamam Group, focuses on providing a comprehensive curriculum tailored to industry needs, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the high-tech sector. Participants receive hands-on training, mentorship, and support to develop the technical skills, soft competencies (including communication, problem-solving, and teamwork), while they have a good command of language skills (Hebrew and English) these are enhanced to ensure their success in the Israeli hi-tech.

Athar graduates integrate into leading hi-tech companies, while working in a state-of-the-art tech hub located in their home territory. The hub serves as a safe, women only workspace, enabling graduates to work remotely or collaborate with other professionals in a supportive setting.

Why Athar

The Wider Perspective

Athar was established to address the unique challenges faced by Bedouin women in accessing quality employment in the high-tech industry. Due to societal, traditional, and cultural restrictions, as well as the scarcity of junior positions, many of these talented women find it difficult to enter the field.

By providing opportunities for these women, Athar aims to break down barriers and create a more inclusive and diverse tech ecosystem, while making local talent accessible to employers.

Athar’s commitment to supporting graduates extends beyond the bootcamp. The program features a dedicated Tech Lead (CTO) who actively participates in the onboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition for graduates into their new roles as well as promoting loyalty and ensuring low attrition for employers.
