Resala-tech was established by Lotus NGO, driven by a vision to expand technological and educational opportunities within the Druze and Arab communities in Israel. The program centers on challenge-based learning and the development of technological thinking and entrepreneurship among middle and high school students and educators. Through Maker approaches and strengthening STEM education, Resala-tech encourages exploration, creation, and the development of real-world solutions.
The need for the program emerged from the work of Lotus, which promotes the integration of women from the Druze community into the tech industry through professional training, skills development, and connections to employment opportunities. Over time, Lotus recognized that the gap between industry needs and the skills acquired through the education system makes it harder for talented young women to enter the high-tech sector. This understanding led to broader thinking about additional ways to boost the community’s technological human capital from an early age.
The initiative aims to advance technological education, innovation, and entrepreneurship among youth. It seeks to create meaningful learning experiences that allow students to engage in hands-on projects, experience success, and build a sense of capability — developing future-ready skills such as critical thinking, creativity, complex problem-solving, teamwork, adaptability, and entrepreneurial thinking.
Why Resala-tech?
Resala-tech works with young people aged 9–18 through a variety of educational formats, including structured courses of 8–12 sessions, short workshops of a few hours, “Makethons” and innovation events, and enrichment programs operating in schools and community settings. Exposure to these experiences opens a window of opportunity for participants to discover the world of technology and entrepreneurship, and fosters a culture of creativity and initiative.
In the enrichment courses, young learners engage in experiential, hands-on learning that encourages exploration, planning, building, and real-world problem-solving. Programs span a broad spectrum of content — from Low Tech to High Tech — and incorporate prototyping, engineering design, robotics, coding, and advanced technological tools.
The program operates in the North and Golan regions and is currently expanding to additional areas. It has already launched in the South through the “Al-Masir” project, in partnership with Portland Trust and Be’atzmi, serving Bedouin communities in the Negev.
Resala-tech programs contribute to preparing the next generation with the skills, creativity, and innovative thinking needed for meaningful participation in the technological and entrepreneurial world of the 21st century.
